I’ve listed every single habitat in the game here, organized by area, with the exact items you need and every Pokemon that can appear. There are over 200 of them. Yeah, it’s a lot.

How Habitats Work in Pokopia

If you’re coming from mainline Pokemon games, forget everything you know about catching Pokemon. There are no random encounters in Pokopia. No tall grass battles. Instead, you build habitats by placing specific combinations of items, furniture, plants, and terrain next to each other. Get the combinations right, and a Pokemon will eventually show up.

Here’s the part that tripped me up early on: each habitat can only house one Pokemon at a time. Once someone moves in, that spot is taken. No new Pokemon will appear until you move the resident to a house or build a second copy of the same habitat.

Time of day and weather matter too. Some Pokemon only appear at night, others need rain or sunshine. If you’ve built a habitat correctly and nothing’s happening, don’t panic. Try checking back at a different time or use Castform Weather Charms to change the weather.

One more thing. You discover new habitats by finding Pokemon traces while exploring. Look for sparkly spots on the ground. Interacting with them registers a hint in your Habitat Dex, which tells you exactly what items you need to build it.One more thing. Tips Before You Start Building

Buy habitat hints from the Pokemon Center PC. Do this early and everytime you unlock new habitat hints from the Pokemon Center PC. The terminal sells hints that reveal habitat recipes you haven’t found through traces yet.

Spam “cheap” habitats early. Tall Grass (4 grass) and Pretty Flower Bed (4 wildflowers) cost almost nothing to make and attract a range of Pokemon. Build a bunch of these first and your Pokedex will fill up fast.

You can build habitats in any area. The tables below group habitats by the area they’re most associated with (based on grass type and items), but you can technically build most of them anywhere. Some Pokemon are area-locked though, so keep that in mind.

Withered Wasteland Habitats

This is your starting area and honestly, the best place to learn how habitats work. Everything here uses green tall grass and wildflowers, which are easy to get. I’d tell you to spam Tall Grass (#001) and Pretty Flower Bed (#008) first since they attract the most Pokemon for the least effort. If you want an early Generate Pokemon for powering things up, build the Picnic Set (#020) for Pichu and Pikachu.

Bleak Beach Habitats

Welcome to yellow tall grass territory. Bleak Beach is where electricity unlocks, so you’ll notice a few habitats here that involve vending machines and powered items. If you need a Generate Pokemon in this area, the Overgrowth Vending Machine (#055) attracts Mareep and the Tantalizing Restaurant (#067) brings in Pawmi. Both are solid options that don’t need complicated materials.

Fair warning: some habitats here need items from the S.S. Anne or require you to have progressed past certain story beats. Don’t stress if you can’t build everything right away.

Rocky Ridges Habitats

Red tall grass, mountain flowers, hot springs, and caves. This area introduces cooking, so you’ll start seeing habitats that involve stoves, cooking pots, and plated food. The furniture-heavy builds really ramp up here too.

If you’re looking for fire-types, this is your spot. Campfire nook and Hot-spring bath are both solid early priorities. I’d also recommend getting the Spooky study (#089) set up if you want Ghost-types. Gastly and Haunter are genuinely useful to have around.

Sparkling Skylands Habitats

Pink tall grass and fluffy flowers. This is where things get interesting because the tech and office habitats start showing up: computers, arcade machines, bookshelves, speakers. If you’ve been wondering where all the modern furniture habitats are, this is the area.

Two habitats I’d prioritize here: the Researcher’s desk (#170) because it attracts Porygon, which unlocks wireless power transmitters. And the Gamer’s paradise (#182) because, well, it attracts Metagross. If you’ve been grinding your way through the game, that one feels like a reward.

Palette Town & Special Habitats

Palette Town is the multiplayer area and where the most unique habitats in the game live. The fossil display habitats need you to find and assemble fossil pieces scattered around the map. That’s a scavenger hunt in itself.

The Eeveelution habitats (#202-#209) are probably why you’re here though. Each one requires a specific food item that you can only get in Palette Town, plus a seat and a table. They’re all exclusive to this area, so if you want Jolteon, Vaporeon, Flareon, or any of the others, this is the only place to get them.
