Pokémon Pokopia Cooking Guide: All 24 Recipes

Cooking in Pokémon Pokopia is more useful than it looks. Every dish you make does two things at once: fully restores Ditto’s PP and powers up one of its core moves. Cooking unlocks when you reach Rocky Ridges, the third major area in the game.

There are 24 total recipes across four food types. Each type upgrades a different Ditto move, and the flavor of what you cook determines which Pokémon will be happiest receiving it as a gift.

Table of Contents

TL;DR

  • Cooking unlocks in Rocky Ridges after you meet Chef Dente (a Greedent in a cooking pot hat).
  • 24 recipes across 4 types: Salad, Bread, Soup, Hamburger Steak, with 6 flavor variants each.
  • Eating any dish fully restores PP and upgrades a specific Ditto move.
  • Gift food to Pokémon whose favorite flavor matches, and it raises their Comfort Level significantly.

How to Unlock Cooking

Chef Dente the Greedent NPC

You need to reach Great rank in your Pokédex to open the gate to Rocky Ridges. Once inside, find the abandoned kitchen near the Pokémon Center. Inside is Chef Dente, a Greedent trapped in a barrel with a cooking pot for a hat. Help him out and he’ll walk you through the basics.

From that point on, you can cook at any station in the game, including ones you build yourself.

What Cooking Does

Every dish you eat:

  • Fully restores PP for all of Ditto’s moves
  • Powers up one specific move based on the food type (more of this below)

You can also gift food to Pokémon or place it near their habitats. Each Pokémon has a favorite flavor listed in their Pokédex entry, and matching it gives a big Comfort Level boost. The five flavors are Sweet, Spicy, Dry, Bitter, and Sour.

Mosslax is a special case. Offer food to Mosslax and it applies a zone-wide buff that lasts until the 5:00 AM daily reset.

Which Food Upgrades Which Move

The move buff depends on the food type, not the specific recipe variant.

  • Salad → Upgrades Leafage: grow moss on rocks, duckweed on water, vines on walls
  • Bread → Upgrades Cut: adds ranged cutting and metal grating removal
  • Soup → Upgrades Water Gun: increases watering range
  • Hamburger Steak → Upgrades Rock Smash: break tougher materials, mine ore faster

Equipment You Need

  • Salad: Chopping Board (no fire required)
  • Bread: Bread Oven + active fire. A Fire-type Pokémon can light it.
  • Soup: Cooking Pot over fire or a cooking stove
  • Hamburger Steak: Frying Pan over fire or a cooking stove

Fresh Water note: Soup requires Fresh Water as its base ingredient and you can’t grow it. Buy it from the Pokémon Center PC Shop whenever you can.

Quick Tips

  • Put a storage chest right next to your cooking station. Ingredients inside count when crafting, so your personal bag doesn’t have to hold everything.
  • Salad is the fastest early PP refill. No fire needed, and leaves are everywhere in Withered Wasteland.
  • For bread, your third ingredient slot is flexible. Only the second ingredient determines the flavor.
  • Stock up on Fresh Water from the PC Shop before long building sessions that need Water Gun range.
